Best Free & Premium Ways to Send Large Files Securely – 2022

Send Large files

In the world of Engineering & Project management, we all know that the smallest high-quality Video clip or small assembly with few components can easily exceed 25MB in size. Even a Small 3D Cad model with few Features will be bigger than 25MB.

When we work with 3D scan Data or large assemblies, traditional data sharing methods like Outlook or Gmail are out of the question. One single scan of 10Ft x 10Ft room can easily exceed 1 GB.

With FTP we can share large files but that is also required additional set-ups, IT involvement, and an extra app to be installed on both customer and the sender side.

As a designer and Project manager, I need to send large files every day to our customers, end users, and my direct manager for final approval. Asking to set up FTP for each client every time is a tedious task. They can easily get frustrated.

Thanks to new technology, Now we can send unlimited gigabytes of data for free or a fraction of the cost in seconds online. In most cases, You don’t even require any set-up. Just open the browser, add detail, and press send. Here are several ways to send large files online safely and securely without any hassle.

It is that simple.

All free and paid plans come with virus protection and Encrypted Data transfer. Premium plans also offer password protection, Outlook & Website integration. You can also track the geographical location where exactly your files are being downloaded.

Instead of free and/or Paid plans, MASV offers pay as you go plan. MASV offers 7 day of free trial that allows you to send 100 GB of free data online, and then you can use this service for USD 0.25 per gigabyte.

Transfer Large Files

DropSend is almost similar in features like filemail.com. The only drawback is that They do not have any free plan available. The Basic plan starts with a minimum of $5.00 a month.

One of the biggest advantages of DropSend is that you can use it as cloud storage. When you are traveling or out of the office and want to send a large file, You can open an app on your mobile device and share it from there. Sometimes this kind of feature comes in handy. Remember, To share it via the app, the File must be stored on the DropSend cloud before sharing.

DropSend is so easy to use, You don’t need to spend time navigating and learning apps. Apart from business prospects, It can be a great tool to share pictures and videos with friends and relatives without compromising its quality.

Cons: Even the paid basic plan is limited to 25 sends per month. I believe it should be unlimited.

4. Dropbox

Share Large files

Unlike Filemail, Dropbox is an app-based file syncing and storage service. File sharing via link is one of its many other good features.

This service works based on a Desktop or Mobile app that allows you to upload files on windows integrated folders. All you need to do is right-click on a folder or file and share it. It is that simple.

The app interface is very user-friendly. When you install an app, It will create Synced folder on your local drive with a slightly blue-colored folder icon. It works exactly like a Windows system. You can copy & paste files easily. You can right-click on the folder and share from there.

My favorite feature, Dropbox will show you a preview of files through the thumbnail. When you browsing with a large number of files, these small features can help big time especially when you are on a mobile device.

Cons: If you are looking for just a quick file sharing online, Dropbox is a little overwhelming initially.

If you don’t want any limitation on file size for free, Smash is the way to go. It offers great stability and speed due to the strategic location of its servers. Like others, it also offers to send files via email or link.

The free version offers password protection and anti-virus protection. That’s a great deal.

Sign-up is also not required for the free version which further protects your sensitive information. Send Anywhere lets you share large files with the link, Numeric code, or device-to-device transfer via the app.

Alternatively, you can also use Sendy as a cloud storage device. Upload all data on their servers and generate a link and share it with customers anytime from any device. it also works as a real-time file transfer. As a sender, you can generate a QR code and 6-digit key in real-time and share them with a receiver. He can start receiving files right away in real-time.
